Hello. My name is Ivy Tan, and I am design enthusiast, hyperpolyglot, blogger and a current jobseeker.
I have had a constant conversation with design - particularly web-design - since 1996. Armed with advanced knowledge in XHTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Illustrator, and basic knowledge in Javascript and PHP, I have created sites for many organizations including the Malaysian Singapore Students Association and the Canadian government-condoned Leave the Pack Behind. A few of my designs have even made it to reputable design e-magazines such as Smashing Magazine and Design Meltdown.
I speak 9 languages: trilingual in English, Mandarin and Hokkien, passively bilingual with French and Cantonese, and can comprehend or converse in Malay, Indonesian, Spanish, Korean and Japanese.
To polish my writing and e-marketing strategies, I am a part-time blogger - an award-winning one at that.
I graduated in June 2008 from the University of Toronto with a Honor’s Bachelor of Arts, specializing in political science, Chinese language and rhetoric. I came back to Singapore, and I now work for as an in-house public relations officer at a major telco.
Design is where art meets function. And I can assure you, I will always design reader-centric sites that never forgo the function of beauty.
